Quick Note: Non-Fat milk

I only use non-fat milk even when using it in my milk baths, too bad I was wrong for doing so.... Dr. Haas explains in his book Staying Healthy with Nutrition that non-fat milk actually depletes calcium in the body.

So, enjoy your milk :)

Butter Lovers, keep indulging- it's good for you!

I hate butter, but most people LOVE IT!

Here is some great information for you butter lovers. Although butter is considered terrible and problematic by health care providers, new scientific evidence shows otherwise. Researchers have found that the intake of butyric acid, a short fatty acid that constitutes about 15% of all the fat found in butter, which has been associated with reduction of cancer risk and in some cases with reduction of tumor advancement. (Haas, 2006, p. 67)

It is also important to know that when saturated fat is short chain, it offers important health benefits that are lacking in the long chain version. (Haas, 2006, p. 67)

2 eggs
1/2 cup orange juice
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
12 ounces golden raisins
8 ounces halved glace cherries

Directions

Cream butter or margarine and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add beaten eggs and orange juice and mix well.
Sift flour and baking powder. Reserve 1/3 cup of flour mixture and toss with raisins and cherries (this will keep them from sinking to the bottom of the cake). Add flour mixture to batter and blend. Add floured raisins and cherries to dough and mix until just combined. Pour batter into prepared pan.
Bake at 300 degrees F (150 degrees C) for 2-1/2 hours. Don't serve until several days old. Wrap the cake in plastic wrap or foil and store in a sealed tin.
